Today is independence day in the US and I’m celebrating my own liberation.

As of this day I am free from the limitations of my past, from my old ways of thinking and from the knowledge of how my life should be lived. I am no longer attached to my possessions nor to the beliefs that have possessed me. The expectations of others will cease to influence my choices and possibilities.

That which is behind me no longer determines what is before me. My successes no longer define the path I will travel. My failures do not prevent me from stepping into the unknown and challenging myself in greater ways. What I choose is based on my desire for the moment and is not constrained by beliefs about the past nor by doubts with regard to the future.

Freedom is not achieved tomorrow and is not dependent upon yesterday. It exists right now, in this moment. It is to be found within my ability to choose for myself. This day I am free. If I can remember this and continue to live from this perspective then I will be truly free for all the days of my life.
