Living and dying by the Law of Distraction

It is said that there is a law of the Universe called Attraction. Simple and straightforward, like attracts like. How much easier could it be to obtain all the wealth and abundance you desire? Yet! It is mastered by so few. Why? The reason it fails is as simple as the law itself.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse. That is what you would be told had you broken a worldly law without prior knowledge of the law. You are expected to know the laws of the land in which you live. But there are so many. It is impossible for the common man to know what is contained in volumes that fill a library. And if you’ve observed even a few trials of misdeeds, minor or severe, you would realize the laws of mankind are subject to interpretation and argumentation.

Perhaps this is true of those Universal laws which appear to be few in number but also susceptible to interpretation and misinterpretation. What is an honest person to do in the face of such incredible befuddlement? There is a simple answer, if you are willing to consider it to some extent.

The laws of the world are about one thing and one thing only. The “stuff” of the world. The laws of the Universe are also about one thing and one thing only. Spirit. You may have heard it said that you should “render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s and render unto Spirit what is Spirit’s”.

When you expect a Universal, or Spiritual, law to bring you the stuff of the world then you are applying what can only be termed the law of distraction. Your purpose can only be understood as an attempt to distract Spirit from what is real and, dear reader, the stuff of the world is not real in the eyes of Spirit.

It is hardly real to you. I suppose you would argue and dismiss this as madness, for only a person who is blind to the realities that grip the hearts and minds of humanity could possibly entertain such a fallacious notion. Your hold on reality is unquestionably sound. But there are certainly those you know whose understanding of the world is not quite so reasonable. Their lack of knowledge and wisdom regarding matters of truth often borders on infantilism.

Clearly, some people do grasp reality accurately and others less so. Then again, think back over your time in this body and you will surely be able to identify moments when you, yes you, did not have a clear perception of the reality at hand.

You were distracted. But how can you be distracted from reality when you are immersed within it? Unless of course, this reality is also subject to interpretation and misinterpretation. If a purported reality is not absolute in every mind, and from every point of view, then it cannot be unconditional. It must be to some extent an imagined reality. Some of it may be generally agreed upon, but if any of it is contingent upon analysis and clarification then all of it is, by inference, quite possibly not a true reality.

So we find ourself in a situation reminiscent of The Matrix where the majority are either enslaved or asleep while simultaneously applauding their own revelations as they agonize over their brother’s absurd beliefs. The war continues unabated century after century, brother against brother, all the while existing only in the minds of those who think they are fighting dragons and demons.

Dragons and demons exist only in the mind of the imaginative and the ignorant. This distinct difference becomes significant when we realize the imaginative are at play, with full understanding and acceptance of the nature of the game, while the ignorant fear every shadow and uncertainty. Fear is an ironic emotion causing one to flee and another to fight. But from what are they running or engaging?

The source of this confusion is little more than an idea. Ideas are quite probably the most powerful force in the created realms. One person with an idea may be a genius, a zealot, or an idiot. One thousand people with the same idea can change the whole world. And where do these ideas begin and end but in the minds of the imaginative and the ignorant?

Is it possible to know if we are asleep or awake? Is there a test, a method of validation? Are we alone in our mind, seeking clues from the world around us, a world we trust less and less with each passing season of our life? Perhaps the answer will not be found in the world, which appears so real and significant, a world which offers us love and feeds us fear.

Truth can only be recognized from a position of calm acceptance. You will not find this place in the world that mankind has made. But you may attain it by going within, searching deeply in the same locale that is creating so much misunderstanding and confusion in your life, your own mind.

It is quite possible that reality itself is simply another game. Would you like to come out and play?

Maybe I should ask if you’d like to go within to play.
